Daz's Daily #29 - Purple Cloaks

Good morning Gunslingers!
Today's Daily takes a look at the sexy hexy and their purple cloaks..
.
Here I use a technique to draw the eye up the model by leaving the bottom of the robes virtually black and the top almost white. This is a great way to speed paint as it forces the eye to look at the bits you want it to.

I used P3 Paints:

  • Thamar Black,

  • Beaten Purple

  • Menoth White Highlight

Colour comparison: Black, rich purple, pale bone.

Colour spread: Black through purple to bone.

The robe was base coated in a 1:1:2 mix of Thamar Black, Beaten Purple and water.

Starting a quarter of the way up the model a coat of 1:2 Beaten Purple and water was applied to the entire area.

Starting half the way up the robes the entire area was painted 2:1:2 Beaten Purple, Menoth White Base and water.

Starting three quarters of the way up the robes the area was painted 1:1:2 Beaten Purple, Menoth White Base and water.

On to highlighting - the bottom quarter of the robes was highlighted with Beaten Purple

The second quarter up the robes was highlighted with 2:1:2 Beaten Purple, Menoth White Base and water.

The third quarter up the robes was highlighted with 1:1:2 Beaten Purple, Menoth White Base and water.

The fourth and final quarter at the top of the robes was highlighted with 1:2:2 Beaten Purple, Menoth White Base and water. This was also applied to any sharp edges.

The whole area was given a glaze of Beaten Purple to tie everything together and we're done!
