Warcradle Studios Diary #24

It’s always busy here at the studio and we have a lot of ranges in various stages of development. 2020 is going to be an important year for Warcradle Studios and we want you to be amongst the first to hear about what’s in store for Dystopian Wars!

Following the completion of the Beta test last year, the Studio and our Manufacturing teams have been hard at work preparing things for the release of Dystopian Wars. The observant ones will have realised that things have gone quiet regarding the game, almost as though there was a big announcement expected and then…. nothing happened.

We can now reveal that it was hoped to have the game ready for launch at Salute this coming April. We would have been announcing pre-orders about now. Unfortunately, despite our best efforts, the recent issues with the quarantine in response to COVID-19 and the continuing disruption to China have meant that this has become all but impossible as several key components are produced there. We had hoped that it was a minor delay but as of this diary entry, production has not yet resumed at the factories we are working with.

While some products are ready for the launch, we are missing some key items and so have taken the decision to delay the launch of the game until we have certainty over having all of the products available. This is not a decision we made lightly and if we could have found a way around it, we would have. We are now aiming for late Summer as a provisional release date but as the situation with COVID-19 continues to develop we will update you further.

The Hunt for the Prometheus

While it was always our intention to develop as much of the range in house and in plastic, this delay has given us the opportunity to accelerate some of those plans. We are now laying out hard plastic sprues for the Russian and Enlightened cruisers that will appear in the Two-Player starter set for the game: The Hunt for the Prometheus. We’ll show off these fantastic miniatures as soon as we can!

Mystifying to all but the Covenant, these technological wonders can replicate an array of cruisers for the Dystopian Age at dizzying speed.

The studio itself has not been idle these past months. Though much of the surface fleets have been design for the eight great powers work is now progressing to the skies above as all manner of gyros, rotors and sky-fortresses are being developed.

We understand that this will be disappointing news for many as we have all been looking forward to battling out on the high seas of the Dystopian Age. No-one is more disappointed than the studio staff who have worked so hard and for so long to deliver what we believe is an amazing range of products to launch Dystopian Wars. When it finally arrives, later this year, we are confident it will be worth the wait.

More news on this as events develop!
