Now that the launch of the Hunt for the Prometheus has been announced, it is natural that thoughts turn to the studio’s immediate plans for Dystopian Wars. Stuart reveals a little more of what is to come in February.
As exciting and amazing as the Hunt for the Prometheus set is, it was always just the first in a host of releases for Dystopian Wars. First up, let’s talk about accessibility and getting into the game.
It is important that players can get hold of the rules and start playing as easily as possible. Because of this, in addition to the book found in the English language version of the Hunt for the Prometheus, we intend the rules to be available in three ways over the coming months.
February will see the release of The Hunt for the Prometheus in French, German, Polish and Spanish. This will feature both the rulebook itself, background and campaign guide fully translated into those languages. Because the two-player set is even better when combined with a second set, these international editions are ideal to pick up in February to give you more ships and a translated edition of the game to add to the English language copy you picked up in January!
Digitally, the rulebook will be freely available in English, French, German, Polish and Spanish. You can download your copy from www.dystopianwars.com from February.
What is this third way? That would be the Rules and Gubbins set, and I’ll talk about that at the end of this article.
February also sees the release of the first of our Squadron boxed sets. The Commonwealth Frontline Squadron features the Russian navy plastic kits first seen in the Hunt for the Prometheus. There are enough parts in the kit to make four Rurik class frigates (with the choice of squadron shields to identify them) as well as two Kutsov Cruisers, Norilsk Heavy Cruisers, Sineus Fast Cruisers or Oleg class Monitors.
Alongside these Russian reinforcements, the Covenant of the Enlightened sees the release of their Enlightened Frontline Squadron set. This multi-part plastic kit also comes fresh from the Hunt for the Prometheus and allows Enlightened Commodores to bolster their fleets with two Stiletto Fast Cruisers, Lovelace Cruisers, Copernicus Heavy Cruisers, Antarctica Superiority Cruisers, Chatelet Recon Cruisers or Ulysses Vanguard Cruisers. Not only that it includes a pair of SRS tokens representing deadly Scythe strike fighters and parts to make six Merian Class Drone Frigates or Germain Class Drone Zebeks.
So that’s February’s releases… but what about March?
Well, I can reveal that we will be releasing the Rules and Gubbins Set for Dystopian Wars in March. This contains the rules, action dice, critical damage dice, templates and the Victory and Valour. This set is ideal for new players when paired with one of the Battlefleet sets that come out in the following months. For hobbyists with classic miniatures in their collections, this is a great way to get their old navy back on the table. The Rules and Gubbins Set will also be available in French, German, Polish and Spanish.
