The Sultanate ORBAT for Armoured Clash has been out for a few months now, and all of the launch releases are available. The units have had time to be fielded by Generals on battlefields worldwide. Accordingly, the time has come to move the ORBAT from its current beta status to its final form.
What does this mean? Whenever a new version of a document is released, it will be listed as a beta document, indicated by “Beta” after its version number. Over the following weeks, we will collate any feedback from the community and make any final amendments as required before releasing a locked version without the beta suffix. Most importantly, this means that the new final ORBAT is one that you, the community, have had a hand in shaping. Whether it is through the feedback form, engaging with fellow players in the community, or being part of our playtesting/proofreading team, we listen to and consider all of your comments. The fact that we have such an engaged community makes us at Warcradle feel very lucky.
What’s Changed?
As one of the premier defensive units in the game, the Persian Immortals now have access to the Pavises special rule (improving the effectiveness of them taking cover). This will make them one of the best units in the Sultanate force for securing vital battlefield objectives.
As the astute amongst you have noticed, the crew for both the Kavgaci and Palarma ATVs are Spica Orionis, we have therefore given both units the Order trait. This ties them narratively to the subfaction and also goes nicely with the Order Auxiliary Battlegroup too, as it brings an Armour unit that you can use the Prescience Through Order Commander Bonus with. Another unit having the ability to make use of the Commander Bonus gives you the tactical flexibility the Sultanate are known for.
Both the Hayalet and the Pillar of Light Hover Tanks have had their stats improved to better reflect the narrative of what the Sultanate faction has access to. Their defence has been increased to 4, given the availability of highly advanced materials such as Orichalcite with which to armour its hover tanks, we wanted to reflect that in the rules. This now brings their armour to the same as that of Galahad, and what’s more, they enjoy that protection from all sides.
Below is a sample 1000-point Sultanate list that brings together the above units. With two Battlegroups, you get access to both Commander Bonuses. These will allow you to manage your Command & Conquest deck to enable the best use of your portals. The multiple Infantry units are ideal for either hit-and-run attacks through the portals or for grabbing Strategic Objective Markers. The Hayalet and Pillar of Light Hover Tanks provide a solid armoured punch, backed by the fast-moving Kavgaci ATV and Khepri Rotor Automata.
Now, go and bring glory to the Sultanate. Mustafa the Golden expects nothing less from you.
