It’s time to look at painting Energy/Spirit weapons!

Taking into account that a lot of painters don't have access to Airbrushes, this Daz’s Daily focuses on using the mighty brush.

What you’ll need:

  • P3 Paints - Meridius Blue

  • P3 Paints - Exile Blue

  • P3 Paints - Morrow White

  • Artist Opus Brushes (sizes 1 and 000)

Here's the paints I used for comparisons - white, turquoise and dark blue.

Meridius Blue is applied in two thin layers to achieve a smooth solid finish.

a touch of white is added for the first highlight - around 1/5 in ratio. This was watered down around 10/1 and focused on the centre of the blade and sharp edges.

A touch more white was added - around 2/5 in ratio.

The final highlight for this stage has a touch more white to bring us in at around about 4/5 in ratio.

Two thin glazes of Exile Blue were applied to the shadowed areas to add contrast.

The whole blade was edge highlighted in pure White and small light flecks were placed on corners and across flat empty areas to add visual interest.

The whole blade was glazed with a very thin glaze (10/1 water to paint) Meridius Blue to tie our highlights and shades together. And we're done!
